We get videos suggested to us from our group members on GMRS stuff and one recurring theme we see in the GMRS install world is that almost NOBODY is checking the SWR’s on the GMRS radio, The Antenna and the GMRS antenna mount!
What happens when you don’t check the SWR’s on your GMRS radio install?
Your new GMRS radio set up quickly becomes a doorstop as the radio will overheat and the finals will fail you and your GMRS radio set up will not work.
Low SWR’s are IMPORTANT!
SWR is short for Standing Wave Ratio. SWR’s measure the RETURN of power to your radio. (That is the short answer!) The lower the SWR’s on where you will use your GMRS equipment the better and the longer your GMRS radio will last!
But the YT installers are not measuring the SWR, What do I do?
Simple, Watch another GMRS video. Their interest may be in selling as much equipment as possible while our interest is in our family friendly GMRS radio group.
How important is LOW SWR?
Low SWR’s are so important our group holds a “Check your SWR” meet up and check everybody’s GMRS Equipment!
